In Terry County, and the Trauma Service Area (TSA) B the COVID-19 hospitalization rate lingers between 25% to 28% daily, with the Brownfield Regional Medical Center (BRMC) ranging between 72% to 85% coronavirus surge med bed capacity. Statewide it is reported there are 12,147 available staffed hospital beds, which includes 844 available staffed ICUs. COVID-19 patients currently occupy 12.1% of total hospital beds.

Read moreOn Thursday Nov. 19, at around 11:14 p.m. the Brownfield Police were dispatched to the 500 block of East Buckley in reference to a subject causing trouble. When Sgt. Matt Valdonado arrived, he tried to detain the subject, Robert Salinas Robles, 30 of Brownfield. According to the Brownfield PD. Robles resisted arrest and assaulted Sgt. Valdonado by striking or stabbing his chest area with a glass goblet several times. Robles was taken into custody and transported to the Terry County Law Enforcement Center where he is being held on an $85,350 bond and is being charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, assault class “C” misdeamenor, family violence, and resisting arrest during search or transport with a deadly weapon.
