BRMC releases statement on recalled COVID vaccine

BISD Trustees tour new campus, set calendar for 2021-2022 school year

When the Brownfield Board of Trustees met on Monday, April 19, they did not begin in the usual room and in their usual chairs. Instead, the board of trustees met outside of the new high school and received a tour of the campus. The trustees and audience were able to see how much of the campus has been completed and were given a map to show not only where they were but what area and room they were looking at. The members of the board were able to speak with the foreman and ask questions of their tour guides, and more importantly, they received answers on what has been finished and what is still being worked on. When the tour was concluded, the board members left to the administration building to discuss the remaining items on the agenda.

On Friday, Oak Grove held its Pie A Principal assembly where one student from kindergarten to fifth grade was selected to pie either Principal Vicky Hathaway or Assistant Principals Kristen Webb or Ashley Venable. The kindergarten through fourth grade classes chose to pie Assistant Principal Venable and the fifth grade class chose Assistant Principal Webb.

Freshman walk off secures Cubs second win in district

Freshman Lotan Jimenez made one at-bat appearance in Brownfield baseball’s 14-3 win over Muleshoe. He hit the ball to right field bringing in the two runners on second and first, thus ending the game on the University Interscholastic League 10-run rule. The walk-off also snapped the Cubs’ three-game losing streak in District 3-3A.

Lady Cubs extend win streak to four straight

The Brownfield softball team hosted Muleshoe on Saturday, April 17 in its final home game in District 3-3A play. The Lady Cubs defeated Muleshoe 10-0 in five innings due to the University Interscholastic League 10-run rule. With the win, the Lady Cubs extend their winning streak to four games and continue to challenge Lamesa for the District 3-3A championship. The game was Brownfield’s Senior Night. The Lady Cubs will be on the road visiting Lamesa on Tuesday and will close their district Saturday at Dimmitt.
