Fields Awarded TABC Class 3A Player of the Year

On Wednesday, June 9 Brownfield basketball player Gabi Fields was awarded a plaque from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches as the Class 3A Player of the Year. Fields helped the Lady Cubs in winning the programs first outright District 3-3A championship with a 12-0 record. Her free throws at the end of the game led the Lady Cubs to a close victory over Idalou in the Area Round of playoffs. She helped the Lady Cubs in forcing overtime and defeating Fairfield in the Class 3A state championship game to secure Brownfield’s second girls’ state title.

Cookers of all shapes and sizes were setting up and starting their fires in Coleman Park Friday afternoon in preparation for the annual Knights of Columbus Cook-off set for this weekend. The yearly contest is garnering a solid reputation among BBQ aficionados such as team Smokin' Dawgs from Orange Grove, Texas pictured above.
