The first day of the meet was very successful for the Lady Cubs as well as The Cubs. At the regional meet the top 8 out of 16 advances to the finals on Saturday from the prelims on Friday. There is also a chance for a wild card spot, the wild card spot is determined from 3rd place in all 4 regions. The top 3rd place team will move on to state, the top 2 finishing times from each region move on automatically to perform in the State meet in Austin, Texas.

So we’re creepin up on that. It’s definitely put us in a bind.” Becker went on to explain, “The non-irrigated land is sitting idle. There’s not been much ground prep that we’ve been able to do just because the conditions are so dry.” In dry conditions such as this year Becker explained the process of irrigation is constant, and slow. “Anything we don’t receive from rainfall is being pumped from the Ogallala Aquifer,” said Becker
