Terry County Sheriff Timothy Click began an inmate work program on Sept. 22 that includes maintenance work like shredding and mowing county and city property by qualified inmates who have been sentenced to serve time in the Terry County Jail. The program is financially supported through the jail commissary, which also paid for the tractor. Even fuel costs are provided at no cost to taxpayers. Inmates must meet certain guidelines in order to participate in the program, which provides upkeep for the cemetery on 14th St. and for public parks. The service is not available for maintenance of private land.
