Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dorris of Brownfield, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Darrianne Jade Dorris, to Christopher Derek Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith of Stinnett, Texas. Darrianne is a 2018 Graduate of Brownfield High School, 2022 graduate of West Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and currently finishing her Masters Degree in Athletic Training at Texas Tech University Health Science Center, set to graduate in May of 2024. Derek is a 2018 graduate of Brownfield High School, 2021 graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy, and currently teaching Environmental Science while also coaching defensive line at Denver City High School. They are planning a January wedding.

City Council meets to discuss updates on sports complex

The Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss several matters. Council members Kelli Mendez, Celso Duran, J.C Tijerna, Leon Pope, Marshall Martell, Mark Williams and Jimmy Garza were all present on the quorum along with City Manager Jeff Davis, Secretary Kelly Burris, Attorney Matt Wade and Mayor Tom Hesse.
