Leaders of local school districts are staying on their toes amid the changes at the Texas Education Agency that prompted a lawsuit against the agency’s commissioner in August. City Council discusses the status of buildings around the square

The Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss several items on the agenda. The longest discussion revolved around the addition of a police department to Brownfield ISD. Council members Kelli Mendez, J.C Tijerina, Leon Pope, Marshall Martell, Mark Williams and Jimmy Garza were all present on the quorum along with Mayor Tom Hesse, City Manager Jeff Davis, City Secretary Kelly Burris and City Attorney Matt Wade. Celso Duran was absent from the meeting.
