Darrell Wood

On November 13th in the year 2021, the Kingdom of Heaven welcomed a spirited, yet amazing man; a man whose wit, pranks and selfless service will be in the hearts and on the tongues of many in this Town, Darrell Wood. He was born on November 26, 1940 in Foster, Texas. He married Barbara Snow on December 25, 1959 in Brownfield. Darrell served as a firefighter for the City of Brownfield for 33 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Claudie Wood, wife, Barbara Wood, daughter Brenda Johnson, sisters Janell Patterson and Wanda Blevins and a brother, Bobby Wood. Darrell is survived by two children, Bobby Wood and wife Serena, and Deborah Wyant and husband Bryan; grandchildren, Melinda, Renay, Ashley, Chad, Nikki, Marie, Chris, Timothy, and Jared; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Moore; and brother, Bill Wood. Graveside services for Darrell M. Wood were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 with Russ McKee officiating. There was a family visitation on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home.
