Janelle Phergson 44, formerly of Brownfield passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2021, in Lubbock. Janelle was born to Odell Ervin and Vera Phergson in Brownfield January 21, 1977. Janelle, a happy woman, was a friend to many and never met a stranger. She was described to be a sweet lady and was found always taking care of others. She enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and listening to the sound of good music, especially blues and gospel. Janelle was a 1996 graduate of Brownfield High School and lived in Brownfield until 2001. Janelle moved to Odessa where she lived and raised her family until God called her to her eternal home. Visitation for Janelle was Thursday, October 21, 2021 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Grace Funeral Chapel-Brownfield 1211 Lubbock Road. Celebration of Life service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church 1405 N. 6th Street, Brownfield. Pastor Eugene Reed, Gracious Host and Pastor Ernest Washington, Eulogist. She will be laid to eternal rest in the historic Mt. Zion Cemetery. Janelle leaves to cherish her memory, her husband; Donatus Obi, her children; Alvera Phergson (Adebimpe), Amar Johnson, and Ahna Johnson, her father; Odell Ervin Sr, siblings; Anthony Phergson, Jeanette Phergson, Cris Phergson, Marilyn Phillips, Quincy Ervin, Myra Brown, Odell Ervin Jr., and Brian Ervin. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter; Keanna Phergson, mother; Vera Phergson, and stepfather; James Phillips. Funeral services are entrusted to the professionals of Grace Funeral Care Inc.
