PLAINS…….Graveside Services for Fermin M. Rivas, Jr., 72, of Plains will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 in the Plains Cemetery with Father Eduardo Teo officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City. Fermin passed away on Monday , September 14, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born August 27, 1948 in Brownfield, Texas to Fermin Sr. and Margarita Mireles Rivas. Fermin attended South Plains College where he made the Dean’s list. He married Carolina Juarez on April 19, 1966 in Brownfield, Texas. Fermin was a member of the Plains Community since 1968, worked for Yoakum County Precinct 4 for twenty-five years and later for Precinct 2, was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Plains and in the Cursillo Men’s Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; three half-brothers Nick, Ramon and Gonzalo Gonzalez. Fermin is survived by his wife Carolina Rivas of the home; three sons Steve J. Rivas and his wife Mirta of Plains, Roger F. Rivas and his wife Sandy of Lubbock, Gerry J. Rivas and his wife Jennifer of Lubbock; two half-brothers Lupe Martinez of Merkel, Robert Rivas of Florida; two sisters Reyna Rivas of Florida and Rosa Vasquez of Florida; a half-sister Andrea Leon; four grandchildren Roddy Rivas, Miriam Rivas, Ellianna Rivas, Rocco Rivas; two great grandchildren Julianna and Mila.
