Maria Wandell

Maria Wandell, 66, of Brownfield, passed away on Sunday, December 8. She was born on June 26, 1953 in Hondo, Texas to Mauro and Christina Padron Sanchez. Maria married Wilbur Wandell on November 26, 1972 in Denver City. Maria moved to Brownfield in 1975. She earned her Business Associates Degree from South Plains College. She worked for Brownfield Rehab and Care Center for over 23 years as a dietician. Her hobbies included watching television, playing bingo, playing football squares and listening to her classic rock music. She especially liked the Eagles, Journey, Michael Bolton and Janice Joplin. Maria also enjoyed spending quality time with her family and her Chihuahua Bella. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Mauro and Christina Sanchez, her husband - Wilbur, sister - Christina Sanchez and brother - Gregory Sanchez. She is survived by her daughters Donna and husband Michael Hernandez of Lubbock and Samantha Wandell of New Home, her son Richard Sanchez (Christa Montoya), brothers Mauro Sanchez, Jr. of Brownfield and Johnny Sanchez of Sundown, and sisters Rosie Natal, Jane Sanchez, Dominga Galindo and Alice Rodriguez of Brownfield and Sofia Vasquez and Gloria Alcantar of Plainview, and Sue Bright of Meadow. Maria is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services for Maria will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 12 in St. Michael Catholic Church in Levelland with Father Jonathan Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland. A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 11 at 7 p.m. in the Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Quesada, William Martinez, Brandon Sanchez, Ishmael Galindo, Samuel Montoya, Matthew Montoya and Issiah Montoya.
