Eloisa DeLeon Martinez

Eloisa DeLeon Martinez, 78, was born to Ignacio and Jacinta De-Leon on April 27, 1939 in Scottsdale, Texas. She passed from this earth on August 13 in Brownfield. Services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Brownfield with Brother Hernandez officiating. Viewing will be held on Wednesday August 15 from 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. with visitation to be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Brownfield. Eloisa earned her GED and worked in the Wellman-Union School District for 35 years as a custodian. She was married to Pastor Florentino Serbantez for 30 years and from this union they had six children. She then remarried the late Martin Martinez, who passed in 2014. Eloisa was an Avon lady for several years. She liked reading the newspaper daily. She was a pastor for 35 years at the Church of God. Eloisa enjoyed cooking, watching KAMC Channel 28 and singing Christian songs. She had a women’s Bible study that met weekly. She was a school bus driver, and worked in the cotton fields, chopping weeds. Eloisa was also the coordinator over the church Christmas programs and plays. Eloisa was a woman of strong faith and a prayer angel with a huge heart for everyone. She went into the arms of the angels because Heaven was needing another Hero. “Now you belong to Heaven.” She is survived by daughters - Dianne Chapman and Delia Flores, both of Brownfield, Nora Sones of Houston and Ruth Serbantez of Lubbock, sons - Tino Serbantez and Tony Serbantez, both of Brownfield, brothers - Rosendo DeLeon of San Antonio and Valentino DeLeon of Ft. Worth, sisters - Vicky Leija and Gabriela Leija, both of Brownfield, former spouse of 30 years - Florentino Serbantez of Brownfield, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Eloisa was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Jacinta DeLeon, two brothers - Eleio DeLeon and Ignacio DeLeon, Jr. and three sisters - Elvida Rodriguez, Orilla Lopez and Lecha Zaragoza.
