MARY ELLEN BURROW YARBROUGH
Mary Ellen Burrow Yarbrough, 90, formerly of Brownfield, passed from this life on Thurs__________________ day, March 6, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Family Fellowship (Methodist Church) in Brownfield on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Burial will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. at Terry County Memorial --------------------------- Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Brownfield Funeral Home.
She was bom June 21, 1934, in Eula, to Lawrence and Ollie Gibson Burrow. Her family moved to Clyde at an early age. She attended Clyde Schools and was a majorette in the Bulldog Band. Mary graduated from Clyde High School in 1952. On her 18th birthday, she married the love of her life, William Bailey Yarbrough. They made their home in Baird, before moving to Denver City for his career in the oil fields of West Texas. They moved their young family to Tokio, and a few years later, settled in Brownfield, where she resided for 62 years.
Mary was a dedicated mother and homemaker before working part-time for the Terry County Adult Probation and Veterans Services Office as a deputy clerk. She later became supervisor of the Terry County and Yoakum County Adult Supervision offices. Upon retirement, she held many volunteer positions: classroom helper at Colonial Heights and Oak Grove, church secretary, CASA of the South Plains, and Hospice of Lubbock.
Mary was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, attending in Clyde, Denver City, Plains, and Brownfield. She held District and State offices for the United Methodist Women. Following the death of her husband of 68 years, she moved to Wolfforth, where she resided until her death.
Survivors include: daughter, Rita Murry and husband Max of Lubbock, formerly of Brownfield; grandchildren, Nathaniel Reese Yarbrough of Lubbock, Morgan Lester and husband Zachary of Lubbock, Gabriel Murry and wife Jeanne of Las Cruces, NM, Haylee Potter and husband Chance of Levelland; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel L.
Yarbrough, Ariel Yarbrough (Guillermo), Maxxy Grace Lester, Dylan and Sephra Murry, Rayden, Casen and Ashtyn Potter; great-great-grandson, Malachi; a brother, Tommy Burrow and wife Kathy of Belen, NM; nephew, Jerry and wife Gretchen Bills of Paris TX; nieces, Kathy Farbach and Connie Dietz of Wichita, KS.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Ollie Burrow, her husband, Bailey Yarbrough, a son, Randy Yarbrough, a sister, Joyce Bills, a nephew, Jimmy Bills.
