PAULINE “POLLY” MURRY
Memorial service for Pauline “Polly” Murry were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Carter officiating.
Polly was born on September 21, 1923, in Dickens County, to E.V. and Alma (Smith) George. She passed away on October 27, 2024, at the age of 101.
Polly married Ralph Murry on December 16, 1944, in Lubbock, and they shared nearly 57 years together before his passing in 2001. She worked for her brother, Dale George, at West Gin for many years and was also a dental assistant for Dr. James Finley. In addition, she owned Murry’s Gift Shop and Modern Steam Laundry with her husband, Ralph.
Polly was an avid quilter and was a member of a quilting club in Brownfield. She loved fishing and could sit on a dock for hours waiting for the fish to bite. More than her hobbies, Pauline loved her kids, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her two new great-great-grandchildren.
Polly had a quiet, gentle spirit, and her life was built around her faith. She was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on the Hospitality Committee.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, E.V. and Alma George; husband, Ralph Murry; sister, Thelma Moore; brother, Dale George; son-in-law, Doyle Murphree; great-grandson, Daxton Potter; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a daughter, Paulette Murphree; a son, Max Murry (Rita); five grandchildren, Jonanna Ross, Leah Murphree (DwayneAnderson), Gabe Murry (Jeanne), Haylee Potter (Chance), and Morgan Lester (Zach); nine great-grandchildren, Harley Hirzel (Chris), Kennedi Harrison (Marshall), Karah Higgins (Jase), Dylan Murry, Sephra Murry, Rayden Potter, Casen Potter, Ashtyn Potter, Maxxy Lester; and two great-great-granddaughters, Quinn Hirzel and Hayden Harrison.
