Pasty Laverne Bailey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend, Patsy Laverne Bailey, 88 of Brownfield, Tx. With her family by her side, Patsy passed away on September 2, 2020, after a short-lived battle with cancer. Patsy was born January 14, 1932, to George and Vivian Lasiter, of Johnson Community, Texas. She attended school at Johnson school, Brownfield, and later Droughns Business School. On May 30, 1953, she married her one and only true love, Ira Wilburn Bailey in Brownfield. After marrying they resided in the Johnson Community, on the farm in Tokio and in the Pool Community. In 1971, they moved to Brownfield, Texas where they resided until her passing. Patsy was a farmer’s wife, she chopped weeds, pulled cotton trailers and canned vegetables from her own garden. In 1978, Patsy began working as a ‘Paper Doll’ alongside 2 of her very dear friends. She was a member of 5 bridge clubs and loved her time with “the bridge ladies”. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for all of her loved ones to cherish. Patsy was a talented seamstress, sometimes working hours on end to help anyone in need. Her house was always full of people, and she never met a soul she didn’t try to feed. You were sure to find a fresh pan of cinnamon rolls or a hot pan of her homemade dinner rolls on any special occasion. Patsy taught 4-H for Terry County and volunteered her time at The Little People School in Brownfield. She was a member of the Brownfield Church of Christ. Wilburn and Patsy had three daughters; Stephanie, Tammie and Tricia. Her daughters were her pride and joy, always quick to speak of their accomplishments with love and adoration. She taught them grace, strength and perseverance through her own hardships and tribulations. She later became a grandmother, a title she adored. She took pride in spoiling each and every one of her 10 grandchildren and later her 17 great-grandchildren. You were sure to find one of those grandchildren playing in the toy closet, spinning on her stools, climbing the tree in her backyard or walking along the fence, hand in hand. She loved to tell us stories of her childhood and our ancestors. “Grandma always made you feel like she had been waiting all day to see just you, and now the day was complete. A Grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes.” To Patsy, family was everything, and whether you were immediate family or a long-lost cousin, she always made you feel welcomed and loved. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents; George William Lasiter and Vivian Lucille Lasiter. Three brothers; Jessie Wilburn Lasiter, William Verdell Lasiter and Charles Lee Lasiter. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Ira Wilburn Bailey, her three daughters, Stephanie Allen (Justin) of Lott, Tx, Tammie Cozart (Rocky) of Cisco, Tx and Tricia Medlock of Hernando, Ms. Ten grandchildren, Shad Glover (Susan) of Lubbock, Tx, Kacey Glover of Lubbock, Tx, Jason Hamm (Mindy) of Midland, Tx, Logan Hamm (Kenna) of Dripping Springs, Tx, McKinsey Cozart of Fairview, Tx, Shelby Gibson of Granbury, Tx, Amanda Phillips (Craig) of Martindale, Tx, Kelsey Newman (Dan) of Austin, Tx, Bailey Brown (Brady) of Lavon, Tx, Winn Medlock of Nashville, Tn and Cassie Glover of Tampa, Fl. And seventeen great grandchildren. Patsy has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly as well. The family would like to say a special thank you to Joann Attaway, loving sister-in-law and dear friend, the nurses and staff of Interim Hospice Care, for their care and compassion, and all of her lifelong friends whom have provided nurturing, love and support during this difficult time. Visitation was held at the Brownfield Funeral Home from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2020. The celebration of life will took place Saturday September 5, 2020 at the Brownfield Church of Christ at 10:00 am. There will be a burial to follow at the Terry County Cemetery under the direction of the Brownfield Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorial donations may be made in the name of Patsy Bailey to The American Cancer Society. “A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.
