Norma Lee Timmons, 98, joined her loving husband and her Heavenly Father in eternal rest on January 25, 2023. Clay and Velma (Mitchell) Thompson welcomed Norma Lee Thompson to the world on September 13, 1924, in Melissa, Texas. Soon afterwards the family moved to New Home, Texas, where Norma attended school. There she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 13. Norma met the love of her life, Roy Harold Timmons, and they were married December 22, 1942, during WWII, where he proudly served in the United State Navy. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Judy, Buzz, Sherry and Jerry.
Their family lived in New Home, Dumas and made a final move to Brownfield in 1950 where they attended Calvary Baptist Church. Norma loved teaching Sunday School for many years and was active in her children’s school PTA. Throughout her life, Norma’s true passions were loving her children and serving and following her Lord and Savior. She served as secretary and bookkeeper for the Brownfield schools for 11 years before she joined Roy to work at his Tim’s Safety Lane. They retired in 1989 and enjoyed traveling together with friends in their RV as well as entertaining family and friends in their beautiful cabin “Haven of Rest” in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Roy and Norma were blessed to celebrate many anniversaries together, and their children hosted parties to commemorate their 50 th , 65 th and 70 th anniversaries. They lived happily together until Roy’s death in 2013. Norma relocated to Sugar Land in the summer of 2016 to a retirement home where she made many new friends and enjoyed being near family members.
