Nicolasa Cruz
Nicolasa Cruz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and longtime resident of Brownfield, TX passed away on June 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Spur, TX on July 31, 1960, to Plutarco and Felicitas Martinez, Nicolasa lived a full life with many accomplishments and touched the lives of those she met.
In her 10 years at JB’s Restaurant, Nicolasa was known for creating the most delicious pea salad and blueberry muffins. Her creativity shone through in every dish she made, and customers would often come back just to see her smiling face. Nicolasa’s dedication to her work extended to her 14-year tenure in the cafeteria at Brownfield Independent School District, where she loved serving meals to countless students.
Family was everything to Nicolasa, and she always showed love to all of her family members. She often spoke about how much joy it brought her to spend time with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Nicolasa had a particular passion for playing bingo and could often be found at the local events center with friends who shared her enthusiasm.
The funeral services for Nicolasa Cruz will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Brownfield Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:00 pm. Nicolasa is preceded in death by her parents, Plutarco and Felicitas Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Cruz, Sr.; daughters, MaryLou Cruz, Cassandra Cruz and husband Ruben, Coronado Valerie Saenz and husband J.T.; son, Pete Cruz, Jr.; grandchildren, Colby Cruz, Tyler Cruz, Aubrey Villareal and husband Jaylen Rainwater, Cayden Hassell and Devin Cruz; great grandchildren, Kaycen Saenz, Shelbie Saenz, Sophia Saenz and Ryan Cruz; siblings, Marcelino Perez and wife Noel; Mary Lou Beslenowitch and husband Art, Plutarco Martinez, Jr. and wife Gracie, Norma Cruz and husband Paul, Juan Martinez, Gilbert Martinez and wife Rachel, Tobias Martinez and wife Mercedes, and Raul Martinez and wife Leslie.
