Funeral Services for Manuel Vela, Jr., 51, of Brownfield will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Brownfield Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Vela. Visitation will be at Brownfield Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022 with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm. Online condolences may be left for the family at brownfieldfuneralhome. com. Manuel was born in Brownfield on March 22, 1971 to Manuel and Sylvia (Villarreal) Vela. He was born and raised in Brownfield and graduated from BHS in 1989 and went on to attend South Plains College. He took after his father and was very musically inclined, playing bass and guitar. As a teenager, he played in two bands, “Stryfe” and “Muther Earth” and later played with a group called “Left Hand Deal.” Manuel was easy-going and sweet. He loved people and cared for his family and he had a soft spot in his heart for his little dog, Bitesy. Manuel was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Vela, Sr. and sister, Diana Marie Luna. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sylvia Villarreal Vela; brother, Danny Vela (Genena) of Brownfield; niece, Kristen Wylie (Zachary) of Lubbock: two nephews, Bryan Vela (Samantha) of Lubbock, and Derrick Vela of Lubbock, and numerous extended family.
