Malcolm Rainwater Sr., 60, departed this life on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Celebratory Service was held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Malcolm Ladell Rainwater was born to Bertha and John Rainwater on December 29, 1961. Malcolm graduated from Dunbar High School in 1981. Malcolm worked several jobs in Lubbock before starting his 26 years as a professional mechanic working for the City of Lubbock transferring to the City of Brownfield (retired) and Brownfield Independent School District. Malcolm met Janie David in which they were united in marriage on April 16, 1993. Malcolm was baptized at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church and served many years at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. He was a choir member, church maintenance and mechanic. Malcolm was ordained as a Deacon in 2004. Malcolm’s hobbies were fishing, camping and playing/coaching basketball. He was the family mechanic and carpenter. You could ask him a question about anything he would say “Oh, that’s easy” or “that won’t take long” and proceeded to either telling you how to get the task done or just do it himself. Malcolm was a quiet person but in the same token a big talker. If you started a conversation with him after you finished talking, you would think he was a lifelong friend. Malcolm was great at remembering people, even if he had just met you once, he would say hello and I remember you! proceeded in death by: Bother: Craig Gardner, Grandparents: Mary Tucker, Lena and Frank Jones. Survived by: wife: Janie; Parents: John and Bertha; Sons: Tyron (Erica), Treveus (Veronica), Malcolm (Ambry), Jaylen (Aubrey); Sister: Sherry (Melvin) Adams: Brothers: Selwyn (Bennie), John (Catiana); Brother-n-Laws: Larry (Debbie) David, Rodis David, Jr, Robert David, Lionel David; Grandchildren: Sheldon, Sydney, Jacob, Jose, Olivia, Kaylee, Jasmine, Tyron Jr, Sy’Nay, God Daughter: Tatyana Hudson and a host of uncles, auntie, nieces, nephews, and friends.
