Karen Jean Duesterhuas, 65, of Littlefield, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Brownfield, Texas. She was born January 26, 1957 in Littlefield, Texas to Jack and Jean Speck. Karen attended Littlefield High School and graduated with the Class of 1975. She remained close to some of her classmates, and the group still got together often and every year would take a girl’s trip. Karen married Ernest Duesterhaus May 16, 1992 in Littlefield. The couple enjoyed dancing, going to the horseraces, casinos and the lake together. They made many wonderful memories at White River Lake. She worked at Farm Service Agency, commonly known as the FSA office for over 32 years before she retired in February of 2022. Karen loved her family, especially being a “Grandma” to her grandchildren. She liked spending time together as a family, playing games and dominoes. Karen was a loving and giving woman who would do anything for anyone. She is survived by two sons, Ben Duesterhaus and wife Lena of California and Jason Morton and wife Shawn of Lubbock; two daughters, Amie Albus and husband Anthony of Whitharral, Texas and Kayla Wise and husband Blake of Brownfield; nine grandchildren, Ashlen Sturdivant and husband Tyler of Shallowater, Kevin Albus and wife Lauren, Chris Albus, and Alex Morton all of Lubbock, Levi Duesterhaus and Zach Duesterhaus both of California, Kaden Wise, Brexton Wise and Hannah Wise all of Brownfield; two great grandchildren, Evelyn Sturdivant and Emelia Sturdivant; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest on November 21, 2016; her parents; a brother, Jack Alan Speck; and a sister, Debbie Pierce. Memorial services were 2 p.m., Monday November 14, 2022 at Grace Chapel in Littlefield with Steve Carter officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
