John Robert Herron

John Robert Herron, age 72 died suddenly on November 16, 2020, in Houston, Texas. John is survived by his daughter, Kellie Clann and husband Kammer, and three grandchildren, Kennedi, Michael and Kassie; his brother Grady Herron and wife Cliffa; sister Peggy (Herron) Anderson and husband Leon and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, “R.G”. and Dorothy Herron; his stepmother Coleen (Hulse) Herron, his sister Sharlene (Herron) Martin and stepbrother, Carroll Hulse. John was born on August 25, 1947 in Brownfield, to parents “R.G.” and Dorothy Herron. He graduated from Wellman High School in 1965. In 1967, John joined the Air Force where he served at several bases including 18 months at Clarke AFB on Luzon Island in the Philippines and Reese AFB in Lubbock. John made some wonderful, life-long friends during this time. Upon being honorably discharged he moved to Houston, TX and began many years working in the computer industry. John finished his career as a long-haul driver which took him to many destinations across the country where he was able to visit family and friends along the way. John was a great and a loving father, brother and uncle. He adored his three young grandchildren, taking them to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year. John never missed a life event, attending many weddings, graduations, funerals of his family and friends. John was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo for many years as a member of the Transportation Team and several Cook-Off Teams. He enjoyed attending the NFR in Las Vegas, sitting by a creek in Ruidoso, fishing and taking his grandchildren on outings. He was a fierce and loyal family man and friend and will be missed by many. A celebration of John’s life will be held at a future date in Houston.
