Graveside services for Howard Neil Barrier will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 in Terry County Memorial Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 3:30pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Meadow First Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Scott and Dr. Kendra Scott officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2020 at Brownfield Funeral Home. Howard Neil Barrier passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 in Lubbock. He was born in Snyder on February 20, 1934 to Richard Leroy and Zenobia (Faye) Bohannon Barrier, the third of 5 children. He came to Terry County in January of 1944. He was raised in the Pool Community, graduated from Meadow High School in 1951. He played sports and loved farming and ranching. He married his soul mate, Dorotha Howard on June 18, 1954. They had 67 ½ happy years together and raised three wonderful children, Kathy, Terry, and Jolisa. He farmed 9 years at Pool 9 Years at Wellman and they moved to Hereford for 5 Years. He enjoyed watching his children in all athletic events, loved vacations, stock shows and family activities. He was well known for his steer trimming, grooming and helping his children, family, and any 4-H or Ag student interested. He enjoyed raising show steers. He was also a self-taught gunsmith and enjoyed refinishing gun stocks and loading ammunition. He loved baseball, football, hunting, golfing, car racing (that he watched with Kathy) and bowling. He spent many hours watching them both in person and on tv. He also spent several years pursuing his other love of trucks by driving and enjoyed seeing lots of the United States. He was an active Deacon for over 50 years. He loved his church and was very active as a teacher of the youth, especially at Wellman Baptist Church. When he arrives in Heaven he will be greeted by his Savior, his precious daughter, Kathy Barrier, his darling granddaughter, Kristen Kaylene Corbin, his parents, in-laws, sister Marion Bishop, brother Leroy Barrier, and lots of family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Dottie, his son Terry (Brenda) Barrier of Cleburne, daughter Jolisa (Jay) Collinsworth of Andrews, grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeff) Proctor, Jared (Jessica) Barrier, Kali (Greg) Newman, Kendra (Brandon) Scott, Jessica (Chris) Burkhardt, and 8 great grandchildren, his sister, Sandra Lumpkin and brother Jerry, and lots of relatives and friends.
