The Brownfield cross country team traveled to Lubbock for the Lubbock Christian University Rust Buster Relays on Saturday, August 28. The Lady Cubs’ and Cubs’ runners ran a three mile course on the Chaparral Ridge Golf Course, with the Lady Cubs running at 9 a.m. and the Cubs at 10 a.m. Brownfield went up against at least 45 other teams on the course. Brownfield’s next meet is Saturday at the Slaton Invite.

It was the third double header of the season and the first the Lady Cubs and Cubs players came out without a win. Brownfield played Midland Christian first and lost 13-6 and followed that with a time restricted match against Pampa that they lost 10-3.

These young Cubs are now looking toward their second game of the season and first road test when they travel an hour and a half to face the Tulia Hornets at 7 p.m. on Friday. Tulia is coming off a 32-0 win over Floydada. Brownfield Head Coach Aarrhon Flores talked about what he wants to see from his players after a long one-hour and half road trip.

The Bulldogs, sitting at 1-0, will be coming off a win against Petersburg. Last week the Broncos lost a hardfought battle but it might have been just what they needed according to Head Coach Josh Conner.
