Wilton Lee Brassfield Jr. passed away May 7, 2024, in Big Spring, TX after a lengthy illness. He was 48 years old. Lee was born October 14, 1975, in Seminole, TX, and was a 1994 graduate of Brownfield High School. Lee joined the Army after high school, serving 4 years in the Field Artillery at Fort Liberty, NC and Germany. After the military he attended South Plains College and graduated with an associate’s degree in computer technology.

He resided in Sundown for 20 years before moving to Brownfield over 25 years ago. He played steel guitar with many area bands, including The Maines Brothers. Music was the center of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Joy Middleton, and sister, Ruby Lois Anderson. He is survived by his children, Kip Middleton and wife, JoAnn from Levelland, Leanna Perez and husband, Gilbert from Levelland and Ronda Huston and husband, Don from Cross Plains; five grandchildren, Randall Middleton and wife, Kirstie, Colbert Perez and wife, Tesha, Jerrico Bennett and husband, Michael, Cheyenne Britton and husband, Bryce, and Payton Perez; six greatgrandchildren; and one niece, Joylene Roye. Graveside services will be Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in O’Donnell Cemetery with Gilbert Perez officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home in Brownfield Texas.

Deeply rooted in her community, Betty spent her life engaged in various pursuits. A skilled seamstress and talented cook, she brought joy to her loved ones with the special quilts she lovingly crafted and the delicious meals she prepared. Her passion for browsing garage and estate sales earned her the reputation of “the greatest picker ever.” In addition to her talents, Betty held a deep faith and was an active member of the Brownfield Church of Christ. Her love for Christ was a guiding force in her life, and she found solace and community within her church family. Betty was a beloved wife to the late Vandon Leroy Jeter, whom she married on January 10, 1973, in Fredericksburg. A devoted mother, she was known for her caring nature and generous spirit. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; two sons, Gaylon Richards and Roy Jeter; grandson, Chris Mullings; great-grandson Alijiah Guerra; a brother; and five sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Navarro (Santos), Valerie Guerra (Isaac), Kathy Mullings (Henry); two sons, Vic Jeter and Johnny Jeter (Billy); sister, Fay Howell; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her dear friend and caregiver Margaret Hildebrand and her family.
