Read moreThe Meadow Independent School District announced today it will operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program and CACFP Program for the 2023-2024 school year. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch and supper to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
Read moreFSA plans to roll out $3.7 billion in Emergency Relief Program (ERP) and Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP) assistance to crop and livestock producers who sustained losses due to a qualifying natural disaster event in calendar year 2022. USDA is sharing early information to allow producers time to gather documents in advance of program delivery. Through distribution of remaining funds, USDA is also concluding the 2021 ELRP program by sending payments in the amount of 20% of the initial ELRP payment to all existing recipients.

Read moreOn June 22, 2023, the Brownfield Police Department received a complaint on Sergeant Randi Rogers who is employed by this department. The complaint alleged violations of department policy as well as criminal law. This incident occurred at the CEFCO convenience store located in the 100 Block of North First Street in Brownfield. The criminal investigation of Ms. Rogers was handed over to the Texas Rangers on July 3, 2023. Ms. Rogers was put on administrative leave the same day and notified of the pending criminal and administrative investigations. The Texas Rangers investigated the incident and presented their findings to the grand jury on Thursday August 3, 2023. Ms. Rogers was indicted by the grand jury on one count of Invasive Visual Recording, two counts of Tampering with a Government Document, and two counts of Tampering with Evidence. Ms. Rogers turned herself into the Terry County Jail this morning on the above charges. Ms. Rogers will remain on administrative leave pending the completion of an administrative investigation. No further details are available currently as this is an ongoing criminal investigation. The Brownfield Police Department takes employee misconduct seriously and will continue to investigate any allegations of misconduct on its employees to ensure that we provide the best possible service to the community.
