BIDC gives TCWW grant

Brownfield Industrial Development Corp. was one of the earliest supporters of Texas Custom Wine Works when the one-of-a-kind business chose to locate here in 2013.

The Brownfield Cubs began a new era Monday with the hiring of Jeff Smith as the district’s new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director.

Coach Smith was hired by unanimous consent from the BISD school board during its regular monthly meeting following a whirlwind application and interview process that saw the Cubs’ top athletic job filled less than three weeks after Bryan Welps announced his resignation.…

ISF to shut down June 2

Brownfield’s city-owned prison will soon be vacant.

The West Texas Intermediate Sanction Facility (ISF) will transfer its inmates and shut its doors by June 2, according to Warden Lepher Jenkins.

The facility’s chief administrator told the Brownfield News on Tuesday that preparations are underway for the closure and he was preparing to inform his staff of the plan.…

Hood named W-U Head Coach

There’s a new wildcat in town.

Wellman-Union Superintendent Aaron Waldrip announced Thursday afternoon that Joseph Hood has been hired as Athletic Director and head football coach for the 2017-2018 school year.

Hood has coached in Brownfield for two years with previous stops in Lamesa, Littlefield, Seagraves, Dalhart and Winters.
