Cubs land spots on All District rosters

Almost a dozen Brownfield Cubs were included on the All District rosters for their performances throughout the recently concluded 2017 Football season.

First year Head Coach Jeff Davis told the Brownfield News that all of the Cubs players named to the All District rosters are deserving of the honor.

BRMC: Roof work ahead of schedule

Work is nearing completion on a million dollar project to re-roof Brownfield Regional Medical Center’s vast main building.

The 65,000 square foot roof over the hospital’s single-story main structure has been completely renovated following a hail storm that struck the community in the Spring.

The work is being administered by JFerg Roofing of Lubbock at a cost of $1,006,296.88.…

Welding students tower above

Monroe leaving BISD

Brownfield ISD Superintendent Dr. Tanya Monroe announced Thursday that she will be leaving the district mid-year for the same position with Comfort ISD in the Texas Hill Country.

Word spread quickly after a Comfort ISD administrator posted the news to his Twitter account at 5 a.m. Thursday.

Dr. Monroe confirmed the information to the Brownfield News early Thursday morning, then shared her announcement with BISD campus administrators and instructed them to inform their staffs.…

Pocket park nears completion

New attraction named in honor of longtime Brownfield News Publisher

Finishing touches are underway on the much-anticipated pocket park at the corner of Sixth and Main streets, beautifying a long-vacant eyesore on one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares. Work will wrap up on the park in the coming week with the installation of half a dozen picnic tables, adding to the bench seating along the perimeter of the property.…

Cubs season draws to close with loss

The Brownfield Cubs finished their 2017 season Friday night with a 66-21 road loss to the Bushland Falcons, who take sole possession of the District 2-4A title with no losses in conference play this year.

The Cubs finish the year with a 2-8 record, notching wins over Muleshoe and Kermit, but struggling with their district schedule after being plagued with injuries along the way.…

Couple in local jail on sex crimes

A Brownfield man and his wife are incarcerated in the Terry County Jail following their arrests last week on local warrants for sex crimes.
