Ora Glynola Mahler, age 92, died in Denton, TX on Tuesday May 29, 2018.  She was born in Brownfield, TX on September 1, 1925.  She was the daughter of the late Ticia Marie Sawyer Akers Givens and Jot Donovan Akers, and the granddaughter of early Terry County pioneer settlers and former Texas Ranger M.B. Sawyer and Rebecca Skeen Sawyer, all of Brownfield.
She was a student at Brownfield High School, Class of 1944, and a majorette in the band. After graduation, she moved to Wichita Falls to work for Magnolia Oil Co.  There, she met the love of her life, Billy Fred Mahler. They were married on January 27, 1945. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage. They were cattle ranchers in Clay and Archer Counties.  The Mahlers enjoyed world travel but loved most of all to host family and friends in their home at the ranch for holidays, wild game hunts and other celebrations. The cards and dominoes were always ready, along with the hot coffee, great food and lots and lots of love and laughter. Mrs. Mahler was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt, also an accomplished seamstress, cook and homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy, her brother M.J. Akers of Brownfield, and her sister Christova Burley of Lubbock. Mr. and Mrs. Mahler were members at First Baptist
Church of Dean. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Lavada Mahler of Jolly, and daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Bud Frey of Double Oak. Also survived by her sister, Ima Gertrude Akers Meek, of Tennessee and brothers Dennis Givens of Midland, Terrell Givens of Denver City, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta on Friday June 1 between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm.  Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church of Dean on Saturday June 2 at
10:00 am.  Burial followed the services at Crestview Cemetery in Wichita Falls. Flowers can be sent to Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.
