Heartbreaker ends Broncos 2017 season

Cats headed to playoffs

The Wellman-Union Wildcats are playoff bound after a decisive 65-30 victory over the Grady Wildcats.

W-U found paydirt early with a 50-yard touchdown run by Isiah Hood.  

Grady took the lead early in the second with a touchdown and PAT.

But, that would be their only lead of the game as W-U took over and never looked back.…

Cubs tennis advances

The Brownfield tennis team faced off against the Perryton Rangers in the bi-district round of the class 4A playoffs last week.  

Brownfield was able to pick up key wins at the top boys line and the number three girls line to give the Cubs an early 6-1 advantage.

The boys doubles swept Perryton, getting wins from Nikolas Salazar/Jason Cabe (7-6(3), 6-1), Devin Rodriguez/Parker Ragain (6-3, 6-4), and Jacob Clark/Alan Cowan (7-5, 6-2).…

Two PRs pace Wildcats run

The Wellman-Union Wildcats and Lady Cats made a good showing at Mae Simmons Park in the Lubbock Invitational Cross Country Meet.

Brodey Yates ran a personal best of 17:37.7 to finish the three mile run with an 8th place medal in the 1A Boys division. 

Hunter Neill came in 52nd and Rigo Rios was 59th  to complete the boys runners.  On the Lady Cats side, Ally Mixon finished 29th in the two mile run with a personal best of 14:12.7 and Jade Griffiths came in 36th with a personal best time of 14:19.1. 

The next action for Wellman-Union comes in Sundown on September 30.…

Cub tennis stays hot

Last Saturday the Cubs tennis team hit the road and traveled to Snyder for a non district match against the Tigers.

The day got off to a great start for The Cubs, as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead at the conclusion of the doubles round.

Lady Cats start district play with win

The Wellman-Union Lady Cats headed to Aspermont for their first district game of the season on Tuesday, September 5 and came away with a hard fought victory.

The Ladies opened the match by dropping the first two sets to Aspermont 18-25 and 15-25. But the Lady Cats were not to be denied as they battled back to win the last three sets by scores of 25-13, 28-26 and 16-14.…
